Dr. Abdelmonem A. Hegazy is currently working as Professor of Human Anatomy and Embryology Department in Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University (Egypt); as well as he is a Consultant of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility. He is the former chairman of the Anatomy and Embryology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University (Egypt); and Professor in King Saud and Majmaah Universities (KSA) 2009-2013 and Misurata, Faculty of Medicine (Libya) 2000. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the following international journals: International Journal of Human Anatomy (USA); Journal of Experimental Medicine and Biology (Singapore) & Women Health and Complications (UK). He is the Former Editor-in-Chief of Zagazig University Medical Journal (Egypt). Dr. Hegazy is also a referee member of scientific research submitted for promotion of professors in Egyptian Universities. Dr. Hegazy participates in Zagazig University academic, scientific, educational and professional development activities in the fields of medical sciences development, including basic and clinical research, policy implementation, design programs, set coursework plans, curricula, syllabi, scientific conference paneling, as well as designing and delivering a wide scope of continuous professional development programs, including training, strategic planning, research methodology, scientific thesis and dissertation writing; research proposal, medical ethics, organization’s behavior issues, all with emphasis on system and staff development. Dr. Hegazy is a member of Institutional Research Board (IRB) unit, Egyptian Medical Syndicate, Egyptian Society of Anatomy, and Postgraduate and Scientific Research Affairs Committee, Faculty of Medicine. His pool of academics consists of original research articles/books/book chapters in various national and international accredited publishing houses. Dr. Hegazy has plenty of scientific publications and projects with many citations. He has got many national and international honors and awards. Dr. Hegazy has been supervising post graduate students in their thesis works. He is also a well-known reviewer/referee/editorial board member in more than 120 international indexed journals. Prof Hegazy is a Global Goodwill Ambassador (GGA). He is also an Advisory Board Member "Motherhood and Childhood of Arab-African Union for Sustainable and Integrated Development; & in Supreme Council for the Defense of Child Rights Egypt.

Dr. Amitabh Dube is a senior professor in the S.M.S Medical College and Attached Hospitals at Jaipur in India. His academic qualification is M.B.B.S and M.D.(Physiology). He has published many of his works in the national and international journals. He has also been invited by Nature Medicine at its Translational Neurosciences Symposium(TNS) at Lucerne, Switzerland in 2012 to present germinal work on Dysfunctional Mirror Neurones in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Children. Dr. Dube has published books on cognitive science, neuroscience, sports and exercise physiology. HE has also worked as reviewer for a number of indexed and international journals. Dr. Amitabh Dube have achieved new innovations and envisaged the designing and development of neurofeedback module and Computer Based Evaluation Test (CBET) for ADHD children synchronised in electroencephalographic (EEG) machine in collaboration with BARC, Mumbai, India

I have a wide experience in project management and proposal writing after being a part of the Ministry of Higher Education EU project team for quite some time. Learning to plan and write strategies added to my capacity as a health professions educator and I believe added a lot to my direction and unique approach. ASU MENA FRI has always been a dream and building the educator network that works within the scope of patient and student-oriented decision making is a current quest that we are practicing under the ASU-MENA-FRI umbrella.

Dr. Muhammad Zia Iqbal is the Professor of Anatomy at Sulaiman Alrajhi Colleges at Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has 45 years of experience in teaching Anatomy, Embryology and Histology. He is also a former Dean of Basic Medical Sciences and Chairman & Professor of Department of Anatomy at Pakistan. His academic qualification is M.B.B.S, M.Phil and F.C.P.S at the University of Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Zia has attended many workshops related to Anatomy and has released many publications and has undergone various researches in the field during these years. He has been the member of the advisory panel -“Grant’s Atlas of Anatomy”, “Grant’s Dissector of Anatomy” and “diFiore`s Atlas of Histology”.

Anatomy, Embryology and Histology

Dzmitry Valchkevich graduated from the Medical University in Grodno (Belarus) in 2001. He has received the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences (PhD) in 2005 for the study of anatomical features of the arteries of pelvis in human (2005). Has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Anatomy from 2003 to 2007. Since 2007, an Associate Professor of Human Anatomy. In 2013-2015, he was the Head of the Department of Human Anatomy. During last 5 years, has about 80 scientific and educational publications, 4 manuals for students on human anatomy. The teaching interests include human anatomy, physiology and histology.

Dzmitry Valchkevich’s research interests are individual variability of the arteries of the human body. Recent studies are related to the establishment of anatomical prerequisites for the occurrence of miscarriage.

Dr. Bataa Mohamed Elkafoury is currently working as Professor of medical physiology in Faculty of Medicine , Ain Shams University ( EGYPT – CAIRO). She is the former chairman of the physiology department in the last three years . She was a visitor for teaching and evaluation of the students in faculty of medicine in Tripoli University-Lebia). Dr bataa is a refree member of scientific research submitted for promotion of professors in Egyptian universities . Dr Bataa is the external evaluator for the course of physiology for under-graduated and post-graduated students of el-Azhar faculty of medicine as well Suez canal faculty of medicine in Egypt. She is one of the re-constructor of course of physiology for nurses in ministry of health. She participated in academic , scientific , educational activities in her faculty and she had its share in construction of first self- assessment study of Ain Shams - Faculty of Medicine for first national accreditation. Dr Bataa participated in multiple books for her department in physiology specially for under graduate and she is the single author for a book titled (physiological approach to clinical cases) in trial to manage physiology by an applied -non complicated manner. She was the organizer of the first national competition of physiology among Egyptian universities and the supervisor for students in her faculty to share in the 16 th international competition of physiology in Malaysia 2018 . She was also the organizer and head of the first three physiological conferences in Ain shams medical university in last three years. Dr Bataa is the Reviewer For physiological research in: Ain Shams medical journal, Bulletin of Egyptian society for physiological sciences (ESPS , journal of the Arab Society for Medical Research.

Basic medical sciences specially that focus on the interplay between the different body organ in health and disease and recently, the researches which directed towards the molecular mechanisms that could explain the disturbed function as well as the effect of environmental factors on health .

Dr. Javadov received his MD from the Russian Medical University, Moscow (1983), PhD from the Russian Cardiology Center, Moscow (1986), and DSc from the Moscow University (1992). He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and a Visiting Scientist at the Magdeburg Medical University, Germany (1987), National Institute of Cardiology, Hungary (1991), University of Bristol, England (1997-2001), and Western University, Canada (2003-2008). Since 2009, he is a Professor of the Department of Physiology at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, USA. Dr. Javadov has specific training and expertise in cardiac biochemistry and physiology with a focus on the role of mitochondria in cardiac dysfunction induced by ischemia-reperfusion and heart failure. Currently, his laboratory elucidates the relationship between mitochondrial ROS, permeability transition, and electron transport chain supercomplexes in myocardial infarction. Dr. Javadov has published over 100 papers in reputed journals and books and has been serving as an editorial board member for several biomedical journals.

We elucidate molecular mechanisms of mitochondria-mediated cardiac dysfunction during coronary heart diseases such as myocardial infarction (MI) and heart failure (HF). Timely restoration of coronary perfusion known as reperfusion is the only effective therapeutic intervention for protecting the heart from MI (ischemic injury). Currently, there is no effective therapy for preventing cardiac ischemia (infarction)-reperfusion (IR) injury. The loss of mitochondrial function plays a crucial role in IR-induced cell death suggesting that protection and restoration of mitochondrial function is pivotal to cell survival in the heart. However, limited knowledge of the mechanisms underlying mitochondria-mediated cell death obscures the development of new mitochondria-targeted cardioprotective compounds. The main goal of these studies is to develop new therapeutic strategies to prevent myocardial injury, and improve clinical outcomes in patients with post-MI and HF through targeting mitochondria. Cardiac IR increases Ca2+, ROS, and Pi levels in mitochondria that, in turn, induce permeability transition pore (PTP) opening in the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM). In addition, high mitROS oxidize cardiolipin (CL), a mitochondrial signature phospholipid, which, in turn, may facilitate degradation of supercomplexes (SCs), large multiprotein complexes containing individual electron transport chain (ETC) complexes. According to the solid-state model, the assembly of SCs provides high-efficiency electron flux throughout the ETC; it increases ATP synthesis and significantly reduces electron leakage and mtROS production due to short diffusion distances between ETC complexes. The cause-and-effect relationship between PTP induction and SC degradation has not yet been established. Based on our recent studies (Jang et al, 2017, Jang & Javadov, 2017), we propose that the PTP opening causes disintegration of mitochondrial SCs, leading to diminished energy metabolism and cell death during cardiac IR. PTP-induced mitochondrial swelling induces remodeling of the inner mitochondrial membrane and thus, sensitizes CL to the ROS attack leading to degradation of SCs. Understanding the role of PTP-dependent and PTP-independent ROS in the disintegration of SCs can provide new insights into the molecular basis of mitochondria-mediated cell death during cardiac IR. Importantly, elucidation of pathophysiological consequences of oxidative stress and validation of molecular targets in mitochondria are very important for the development of new cardioprotective agents. We propose that simultaneous inhibition of PTP-induced mitochondrial swelling and ROS production can exert synergistic effects against cardiac IR injury and thus, enable us to develop new therapeutic strategies targeting mitochondria.

Dr. Ashraf Youssef Nasr is an Associate professor in the Department of Anatomy & Embryology at Zagazig University, Zagazig, Egypt. He holds an MB.BCh, MSc & MD in Anatomy & Embryology. After completion of his MD in Zagazig University, he went on King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for teaching in Department of Anatomy, Histology & Embryology. He has published 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals including Folia Morphologica, Anatomic Science international, Cancer Cell International, Toxicology Report, Life Science, Saudi Medical Journal and Neurosciences. He is an editor and reviewer of over 10 peer-reviewed medical journals. He is a frequent invited speaker and faculty member in international scientific conferences organized by different Biology, Anatomy, toxicology and Neurology and anthropology departments in different American, European, Asian and African Universities. He has been awarded numerous research awards including the Anatomy & Embryology Department in Zagazig and King Abdulaziz Universities.

Dr. Ashraf Youssef Nasr specialises in Anatomy & Embryology with particular interest in clinical, experimental & surgical anatomy, Teratology and Anomalies Toxicology, and Histology, Histopathology & Ultrastructure, Immunohistochemistry and Neuro-anatomy. His main research interests are variations, teratology and the toxic effects on the structures of the different body organs and systems including gastro-intestinal, CNS, CVS and musculoskeletal. He is particularly keen in collaborating with many specialties to innovate diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for different diseases.

Dr. M.Rajajeyakumar, MBBS, MD (Physiology), MSc Yoga, CCEBDM (PHFI), (PhD), has completed his MD Physiology,(2006-2009) at (JIPMER- An Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India). I worked as research assistant (2009-2012) in the Advanced Centre for Yoga Therapy, Education & Research Lab, and JIPMER. I published more than 88 research papers and serving as an editorial board member and expert reviewer of many national and international journals. I have been invited for honorable guest Speaker in Fitness-2015, Philadelphia, USA, and chairperson for the international conference 9 th Indo global summit on cancer therapy -2015, India. I was selected as Speaker and chairperson for 12 th ,13 th & 14 th Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference-3 rd , 4 th & 5 th International Conference on Faculty Development in the Health Professions, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, Singapore 2015,16 & 17. I presented a scientific research paper in World Diabetes Congress Dec-2015, IDF, Vancouver, Canada. I have been appointed as Advisory Council members of Pure Action, Yoga is Medicine, Austin, TX 78703, USA and organizing committee member of international conferences. I have been honored and received 10 awards, including national and international level. He is also the Director of the Research Center on Motor Activities (CRAM), University of Catania and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Functional Morphology and Kinesiology (ISSN 2411-5142) MDPI.

His major research interest is on morphological, molecular and biochemical aspects of osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal disorders and the relative effects of diet, ageing and physical activity.
